Motorcyclist, who attended Sangai Festival, dies in road mishap

A motorcycle with three people collided with a car carrying a family after visiting the Sangai Festival 2022.

A man riding a motorcycle (Yamaha FZ) with two friends died in a road mishap after colliding with a four-wheeler (Hyundai I-20) near the ‘Welcome’ signboard at KVK Utlou under Nambol Police Station in Bishnupur district around 11 pm on Thursday.

The three persons on the motorcycle (MN04D-9452), which met with a road accident, visited Sangai Festival at Hapta Kangjeibung. The bike collided with the car (MN01X-6406) which was carrying a family that had also gone to see the same festival at Moirang Khunou in Bishnupur district.  

Among the three that came on a motorcycle, Khundrakpam Abungton,19, son of Kh Deven from Nambol Thiyam sustained critical injuries and later succumbed at RIMS.  The remaining two are also being treated at Asian Hospital, Kwakeithel, and RIMS.

A case has been registered by Nambol Police Station in connection with the incident. The body of the deceased has been handed over to his family members after conducting a post-mortem at RIMS.
