Monsang Tribe Hall inaugurated

Inauguration of Ng Mono Monsang Memorial Hall (Monsang Tribe Hall), honouring Late Upa Ng Mono Monsang, for his leadership as the first MLA representing Chandel district in 1948, was held at Japhou village, Chandel district, on Friday.

Cutting the ceremonial ribbon to inaugurate the hall, chief guest Upa D Korungthang unveiled the inauguration plaque and commenced the function.

The event was attended by MLA of Tengnoupal assembly constituency Upa D Korungthang as the chief guest; former MP/MLA Bd Nehring, former MLA W Morung Makunga and former MLA St Victor Nunghlung as the guests of honour; and former ADC member of Chandel Menglem Monsang as functional president.

Tribe presidents of Chandel district, including leaders from UNC, CNPO, Monsang leaders and pastors, Christian mission workers, Monsang village chiefs and Monsang frontal organisation leaders-SER, MLLS, MOA, SSR, and STS took part in the function as well.

The dignitaries of the dais spoke on the achievements and contributions of late Ng Mono Monsang in the field of education and politics for the Chandel district and Naga people.
