Moijing drug racket: Two more arrested

Two more persons were arrested in connection with the drug bust at Moijing Mina Bazaar by Thoubal District Police on June 14.

Two more persons involved in the supply of opium to a drug lab at Moijing Mina Bazar in Thoubal, which was busted on June 14 by the Thoubal Police, were arrested on Tuesday, police sources said.

According to police, the arrested persons have been identified as one Kamneilun Vaiphei alias Khai, 52, son of Lalnek Vaiphei from New Kannan Village, Kangpokpi district, presently residing at Henjang Village, Tengnoupal under Machi Police Station and Md Aslam Khan ,34, son of Md Jalaruddin of Sikhong Thongthabi, VDF No. 611.

Kamneilun was arrested from Henjang Village, Tengnoupal under Machi Police station while Aslam was arrested from district headquarters, Thoubal.

The two were arrested in a follow up action, during the investigation of the case FIR No 104(6)2022 TBL-PS  u/s 21(c) ND and PS, added 29 ND and PS Act, related to the busting of the drug lab and the subsequent arrest of one Thoubalmayum Ahamadi Bibi  along with  massive seizure of brown sugar.

In connection with the case, five persons were earlier arrested as per the disclosure of Bibi.

Massive efforts are still on to arrest the others involved in the drug manufacturing racket such as financiers, drug dealers and transporters, police said.

Routine house searches are being conducted at suspected hideouts of Moijing and other suspected locations to detect drugs and to arrest the involved persons and suspects who are still absconding from the police.
