MLA Th Arunkumar on Saturday handed over a multi-utility park to Nongmeibung Chakpram Leirak Development Committee (NCLDC), which is developed in the complex of a government school that was officially shut down.
Speaking at the 5th foundation day of NCLDC, MLA Th Arunkumar clarified that constructing the park at the then school campus is not an act of betraying the education sector.
The school was officially shut down on a good note considering the low strength of students, he said, adding after all there are many government schools nearby which the government has been giving great emphasis in terms of all aspects.
Highlighting the emphasis on rejuvenation of drainage system to prevent frequent floods in Wangkhei AC besides the blacktopping works of all the lanes, he announced that the office of the Wangkhei MLA is widely open to all to redress any genuine grievances.
The MLA also informed that the water facilities will no longer be an issue in the constituency once the Chingkhei Ching Water Supply project is successful as there are already seven- eight reservoirs in the constituency.
Stressing the need of shifting the crematoriums located in the river bank to suitable locations, the MLA promised an electric crematorium in Wangkhei AC very soon.
He further called up all the people of his constituency to confine to civic sense and be a part in maintaining clean and hygienic surroundings.
The programme was also attended by chairman of NCLDC, Chakpram Rupachandra, and president of Nongmeibung Eastern Students’ Club, N Indrajit Singh, as presidium members.
Meanwhile, locals lauded the MLA for resurrecting the multi-utility park from the then school campus which has been a waste land and dumping site since the last few years.
