MitSna Foundation organised its first session of MitSna Interactive Talks (MIT) on the theme of ‘Career in Photography’ in hybrid mode at its head office in Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai on Sunday.
Gracing the event, renowned wildlife photographer Sanasam Okendro Singh shared his inspiring journey into becoming one of the most celebrated wildlife photographers of the state, a release stated.
He recounted his experiences in capturing the elusive Nongin (State Bird of Manipur) in Razai hills of Ukhrul district, and also many other rare flora and fauna of the state, it stated.
He also stressed the importance of spreading awareness of wildlife conservation in remote areas of the state, where hunting is often the primary source of food and income, it mentioned.
He noted that people in such areas are often unaware of the impact of their actions and further elaborated on his collaboration with the Manipur Forest Department and other Departments for wildlife conservation including conducting censuses for animals and birds, it asserted.
He also emphasised that photography is a lucrative career for students to consider, all the while exhorting the students not only to learn the theory but also on practicing the skills that they have acquired, it stated.
He observed that in Manipur’s context, while wedding photography is widely popular and profitable, other types of photography also hold great potential, it stated.
He also pointed out that there are only a few women photographers in Manipur, with most primarily running photo studios, which remains a small number, it noted and encouraged them to explore and pursue this field to the end, leaving behind all inhibitions.
The release also mentioned that MitSna will also hold consecutive sessions of MIT 2024 in the near future and encouraged to participate in the event.
