Missing man found dead in Imphal river, JAC formed

As per sources, late Abdullah’s three friends, the woman he had eloped with, Sana and her husband Mujibur have surrendered to Lilong police.

A man who had gone out from his house on May 16 was found dead in Imphal River near Konuma area under Mayang Imphal Police Station in Imphal West on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as one Korimayum Abdullah, 25, son of Abdul Barik from Yairipok Changamdabi Makha Leikai under Andro Police Station in Imphal East.  

The body has been collected by police along with a team of forensic science and kept at JNIMS Mortuary.

Abdullah was in the Indian Army and posted at New-Delhi. He had returned home on a holiday for few days.

According to his relatives, Abduallah had eloped with a woman from Keibung Sana Sibi Leirak around a year earlier but parents separated them.   

Abdullah was invited for a meal by the woman’s elder sister, Sana, wife of Md Mujibur at her residence at Lilong Nungei khunou, they said. On May 16, along with three friends Abdullah went as per the invitation, as per the relatives.  

The three friends are Md Bakshar, son of Yusuf Ali from Yairipok Ningthounai; Md Sajish Khan, son of Md Hellaluddin; Md Tarique, son of Md Serajuddin from Yairipok Tulihal Moinam

Since that day, Abdullah had remained missing until his mortal remains were found floating in Imphal River around 11 am on Sunday.

As per sources, late Abdullah’s three friends, the woman he had eloped with, Sana and her husband Mujibur have surrendered to Lilong police.  

Meanwhile, a JAC has been formed in connection with the incident.The JAC has demanded arrest of the culprits in the death to be arrested with 24 hours. It has resolved not to claim the body until the culprits are arrested.  

It also demanded the state government to take action against Lilong Police Station and Andro Police Station for allegedly not taking missing report in a timely manner.

The JAC cautioned to launch an intensive stir unless the demands are fulfilled.
