Minor girl sexually assaulted by married man repeatedly

Irate locals vandalised the house of alleged rapist Monday morning.

An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a married man from the same locality. The incident was reported under the jurisdiction of Thoubal police station.

Irate locals vandalised the house of the alleged rapist Monday morning.

The alleged rapist was identified as 33-year-old Laishram Chinglenkhomba, a VDF personnel attached to Heirok Police station, from the same locality as the victim.

A team of Thoubal district police team along with women police also rushed to the spot to pacify the mob at around 10.30 am.

The local residents held an immediate meeting and adopted a resolution to ostracise the alleged rapist from the locality.

Family members of the victim said that based on the revelation by the girl, Chinglenkhomba had repeatedly raped the minor by luring her with money.

The matter came to light on December 3 when the victim’s family caught him in the act. He was taking advantage of the night as a musical event was being held in the locality.

The family members also filed a complaint to the police. The victim’s mother had confronted the matter to the alleged rapist's family. However, they did not take the matter seriously, she said.

Members of Childline Thoubal have taken custody of the minor on Monday morning for her necessary medical examination, and has been shifted to a safer place.
