Minor girl rescued from Imphal airport

A 17-year old minor girl from Moirang who was on her way to meet a man from Kolkata was rescued by a team of Childline Bishnupur, New Life Foundation Manipur volunteers along with family members and relatives from Imphal airport on Wednesday.

A 17-year old minor girl from Moirang who was on her way to meet a man from Kolkata was rescued by a team of Childline Bishnupur, New Life Foundation Manipur volunteers along with family members and relatives from Imphal airport on Wednesday.

The minor was given an assurance of marriage by the man from Kolkata. The man had sent her a flight ticket to come for ‘marriage’. The team rescued her and handed her over to family members on Wednesday at around 4.30 pm after producing her at CWC Bishnupur.

S Rebika Devi, co-ordinator of Childline Bishnupur said a complaint has been lodged at Moirang Police in connection with the case.
