Industry Minister Nemcha Kipgen reached out to the entrepreneurs of Ukhrul district during her official visit to the district along with Ukhrul assembly constituency MLA Ram Muivah on Friday.
During the visit, minister Nemcha encouraged the entrepreneurs to utilise the various infrastructures of the government implemented through the department of Commerce and Industry for improving the industrial sector of the state.
She said that once the Industrial Estate of the Ukhrul district is fully functional, there will be employment generation of the local people and the nearby villages.
She appealed to the people of the district to extend maximum cooperation in the proper maintenance of the infrastructures of the department in the larger interest of the people.
She stressed on the role of women in the society, during her address at the gathering at Ukhrul District Handloom and Handicraft Cooperative Federation.
“Women are now actively involved in policy making, which is a sign of equality and empowerment of the women folk,” she said.
She further said that she will consult with the departments concerned for upgrading of the infrastructures of this Centre. She also expressed that she felt inspired and encouraged to witness the working style.
During the visit, she also inspected the Industrial Estate, Ukhrul district, Cold Storage, Site inspection for Common Facilitation Centre, District Industries Centre (DIC), Ukhrul at Mini Secretariat among others.
She was warmly received by locals with Traditional Tangkhul Shawl and Handicraft items. A memorandum was also presented to her.
Director, Commerce and Industry Y Robita; MD, MANIDCO Peter Salam, officers concerned and officials of the departments accompanied the Ministerial team during the visit.
