Manipur Youth and Affairs Minister Letpao Haokip on Saturday made an unofficial announcement that he will be contesting from Tengnoupal assembly constituency against sitting MLA D Korungthang instead of Chandel assembly constituency.

The minister made the announcement on Saturday during the closing ceremony of five-day 35th annual sports meet held at Aimol Satu village, Tengnoupal district. The programme was organised by Aimol Students’ Union, Manipur.

He recalled that in the 2017 state legislative assembly election, he was elected from 41-Chandel assembly constituency from National People’s Party (NPP). In the upcoming state legislative assembly election he will be contesting from 42-Tengnoupal assembly instead and may be contesting from a different political party, he mentioned.

However, he is yet to make an official announcement that he will be contesting from 42-Tengnoupal assembly constituency, he said.
