Minister Bhanu Pratap inspects Common Facility Centre at Churachandpur

The Common Facility Centre (CFC) for Churachandpur Wood Carpentry Cluster be the first CFC for carpentry in the entire northeast region.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, who was on the inspection tour of his ministerial projects in Tripura and Manipur, visited Churachandpur on Saturday.

He was received with traditional hospitality by the Churachandpur Area Carpenters Association (CACA) at Lighthouse building located at Zenhang Lamka where he was accompanied by officials from the concerned department including MSME Manipur director Th Baite; KVIC Manipur director Pramod D Ambadker; and a team from District Industrial Centre led by its general manager Khailet Haokip.

During his visit, Bhanu Pratap inspected the site of Common Facility Centre (CFC) for Churachandpur Wood Carpentry Cluster, Churachandpur Area Carpenters Association (CACA) under the project named 'MES SDP Programme’ sponsored by Ministry of MSME, Government of India and Department of Trade, Commerce and Industry, Government of Manipur. The project will be implemented by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) Guwahati for the financial year 2019-21.

Speaking by the sideline of the inspection, he said that under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, enhancing the GDP contribution from the present 30 per cent to 50 per cent and employment generation in MSME from 11 crore to 15 crore is the main priority and India will be in the top economy of the world in future.

He also said that constant efforts are being made towards upliftment of MSMEs under ‘Self-reliant India’ through various schemes for infrastructure development, credit and financial assistance, technology up-gradation, skill development along with inclusion of a large number of business units and exporters.

Noting that this will be the first CFC for carpentry in the entire northeast region, the minister assured that the objective of implementing CFC in the district aims to upgrade the technology of the skilled carpenters which will sustain their livelihood and will be a milestone achievement in the history of MSME.
