Mega Ex-Servicemen Rally at Koirengei witnesses massive turnout of Veer Naris and Widows

The Mega Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally was conducted at Koirengei, Imphal, for the first time post COVID-19 outbreak.

Over 1,200 and 250 Veer Naris and widows joined the Mega Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally conducted at Koirengei, Imphal, for the first time post COVID-19 outbreak.

"Paying rich tributes to the Indian Army Veterans, Veer Naris and Widows, Red Shield Division of Spear Corps organised a Mega Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally at Koirengei for all districts of Manipur. The ESM rally witnessed a massive turnout of more than 1200 and 250 Veer Naris and Widows," the PIB (Defence Wing) said in a statement. 

Gracing the rally, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh spoke to ESMs and thanked them for their contributions in nation building. CM Biren also informed the audience about various welfare schemes for ESM undertaken by the state government, including Enhancement of Cash Rewards to Gallantry Medal Awardees and Infrastructure Development projects of Rajya Sainik Boards.

The chief minister also felicitated the War Widows, Gallantry Medal Awardees and Paid Homage To the Bravehearts of Manipur, who had laid down their lives in the line of duty.  CM Biren also congratulated Red Shield Division for organising the mega rally and appreciated the care shown to ESM by the Indian Army. 

Also speaking on the occasion, Brigadier Neil John, SM Deputy GOC Red Shield Division thanked the veterans and their family members for their sacrifice and services to the nation and urged them to keep contributing towards social and nation building.

Lt Gen LN Singh  also addressed the gathering conveying gratitude to the Red Shield Division on behalf of the veterans community of Manipur, the Defence Wing stated.

On the occasion grievance cells from Principal  Controller of  Defence Accounts (Pensions), Record Offices of various regiments and services, SPARSH & SUVIGYA cell were set up to ascertain and resolve the issues faced by the veterans and their families. Information Stalls of Army Recruitment Office, ECHS Polyclinic, Director General of Resettlement, Skill Development & Social Welfare Department, Govt of Manipur; RSB & ZSB; UdChalo, SBI, Axis, ICICI, PNB & HDFC Banks, were also established at the Rally site, it added.
