Meetei-Pangal Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee (MPSTDC) on Friday thronged to the residence of Mayang Imphal MLA K Robindro and Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan and submitted memorandums seeking their support in enlisting Meetei-Pangal in the ST list.
As informed by the committee members to the media, both the MLAs have given their assurance to support the demand considering it as deemed fit and genuine.
Vice president of MPSTDC, Haji Arafat, appealed to the state government to consider their demand and ensure enlisting Meetei-Pangal in the ST list to save the Meetei-Pangal which is at the verge of extinction.
The committee will continue the movement by meeting the elected representatives and press them to table the demand on the floor of the upcoming Assembly session and send recommendations to the central government, Arafat said.
