Meetei and Hmar representatives of Jiribam district held a meeting on Thursday and resolved to work towards bringing normalcy as well as prevent incidents of violence by cooperating with security forces.
A joint release issued by JDO, AJUCA, IPSA, HERICOUN-JBM, LEECHING, HNU, Hmar Inpui, TE PTC, MPC stated that representatives of Paite, Thadou and Mizo of Jiribam district also attended the meeting which took place at Group Centre CRPF, Dayapur, Cachar, Assam.
Several points were agreed between Meetei and Hmar Community of Jiribam district, it stated.
The meeting agreed that both sides will make full efforts to bring normalcy and prevent incidents of arson and firing, and shall give full cooperation to all the security forces operating in Jiribam, it stated. Both sides agreed to facilitate controlled and coordinated movement, it added.
It further stated that the next date of meeting will be held after August 15, it stated.
The meeting was moderated by Jiribam District Administration in which DC-Jiribam, DIG, CRPF Jiribam, Sr SP-Jiribam, Commandant 39 Assam Rifles and Commandant 87 Bn CRPF were present, it added.
