Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA) has demanded Amra Bangali to withdraw its complaint against the inner line permit regulation in Manipur by January end and threatened to launch agitations.

Speaking to the media at its office at Babupara, Imphal on Friday, MDA convenor M Tombi said that ILP regulation was finally implemented after several movements in the state to safeguard the indigenous people of Manipur.

During the movements launched in the state, the protestors were assaulted by the police on several occasions and even a student was killed during agitations, he recalled. MDA strongly condemns Amra Bangali for lodging a complaint at the Supreme Court, demanding to squash ILP regulation from Manipur, he said.

“When ILP regulation was implemented, there was no objection from any community. Why Amra Bangali filed a complaint at the Supreme Court?” he questioned.

If Amra Bangali fails to withdraw their complaint from the Supreme Court, then the MDA, with public support, will launch a signature campaign to ban the use of Bengali script in Manipur from February 1, he added.
