Residents of Thoubal and Kakching districts staged sit-ins on Saturday condemning the legal notice served to RPI Athawale national secretary Thounaojam Maheshwar by Assam Rifles. Protest demonstrations in Thoubal district were held at Heirok, Wangjing, Thoubal, Yairipok, Khongjom etc.
Local clubs and Meira Paibis of Heirok part (iii) Lam Mari Phangba, Touragbam Leikai, Ngarouthel Khuman Leikai, Heirok part (i) Heitupopokpi Mamang Leikai, Heirok part (ii) Devimandop Leikai and Tomal Makhong Leikai also staged sit-in at their respective localities decrying the notice.
AWALAKACO also organised a protest demonstration at Wangjing-Lamding market. A similar protest was also organised by Khongjom circle co-ordinating committee in Khongjom area.
Meira Paibis of Khangabok part (iii) Cherapur also staged sit-in at the locality. Mass protests were also carried out in various areas including Thoubal and Yairipok etc.
Langsai Thouna and joint associations of Kakching also carried out protest demonstrations at Kakching market and Kakching Lamkhai condemning the legal notice.
