Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), in association with District Legal Services Authority of Imphal West and Imphal East, observed the 75th Constitution Day on Tuesday at the Conference Hall, ADR building, Lamphel Court Complex in Imphal.
As a part of the observance, the preamble of the Constitution of India was read out by all the participants which included Judicial Officers, Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Imphal West and Imphal East, Panel Advocates, Para Legal Volunteers, officers and staff of MASLSA, DLSA Imphal West, DLSA Imphal East.
MASLSA member secretary Alek Muivah highlighted the significance of the programme. He stated that Constitution Day is observed all over the country to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India.
He further stated that the Constitution of India is one of the most vibrant and working Constitution as compared to the neighboring countries where there is frequent breakdown of constitutional mechanisms.
The Indian constitution, which is more than 75 years old, has successfully kept this vast and diverse nation running without any breakdown of constitutional mechanism.
An open quiz competition on the Constitution of India was also held during the programme and the winners of the quiz competition were awarded.
The programme was graced by Yumkham Rother, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West -cum- chairperson, Imphal West DLSA; Ningthoujam Lanleima, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal East -cum- chairperson, Imphal East DLSA.
