Mao Market will be opened at North AOC in Imphal: CM Biren

The Manipur chief minister assured the women of Mao that they will always have markets to sell their farm produce.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that the Mao Market will be opened at North AOC in Imphal from Thursday onwards, and assured the women of Mao that they will always have markets to sell their farm produce.

The chief minister announced the opening of the Mao Market soon after women leaders from Mao along with MLA Losi Dikho called on him. He said the meeting discussed about establishing new avenues to uplift the womenfolks of Mao.

“Women leaders from Mao along with Shri Losi Dikho, Hon’ble MLA called on me today and discussed about establishing new avenues to uplift the womenfolks of Mao. I’m pleased to share that the Mao Market will be opened at North AOC from tomorrow,” Biren tweeted.

Biren also said in another Twitter post that two buses will be provided to ferry the goods daily.

“To facilitate seamless movement for them, we will also be providing two buses to ferry their goods daily. The women of Mao will always have markets to sell their farm produce,” Biren tweeted.

It may be mentioned that the Imphal Free Press had highlighted the plight of women vegetable sellers of Mao, and the need of a proper market shed for them to sell their farm produce daily, which is a means of livelihood for the farmers in Mao.
