Khwairamband Nupi Keithel, Sinpham Amadi Saktam Kanba Lup (KNKSASKL) and Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Semgat Sagatpa Lup (KNKSSL) on Tuesday clarified that no organisation called “Emoinu Ima Keithel Shaktam Kanba Lup” was formed in Ima Market.

Addressing media at Leimarel Sidabi (Keithel number 1), secretary of KNKSASKL, Thingujam Rani Devi said that one of the local papers had reported about formation of an association called “Emoinu Shaktam Kanba Lup” in Ima Market. However, such a report is baseless and no such organisation is formed, she asserted.

She said that women vendors have been playing an important role in economic activities and in various social issues of the state.

Apart from this, they are also concerned in maintaining the unique characteristics of Khwairamband Ima Market of being a market run by women only.

However, some people with vested interests are trying to malign the beauty of the market, she alleged.

She said that through that media report, an allegation was made against one of the executive members of KNKSSL by one of the women vendors of Emoinu Ima Keithel shed 12 and termed it unfortunate.

Besides this, it was mentioned that some hidden agenda is challenging women vendors and trying to dilute the unique value of Ima Market, she added.

People who are involved in creating such false allegations should clarify with documents or legal action would be taken up, she said while stating that the majority of women who are depending on Ima Market are economically unsound.
