Manipur: WY tablets seized, three arrested

As many as 50,000 suspected WY tablets were seized from Lilong Haorou Hangamthabi, Thoubal District on Saturday.

A combined team of commandos including Imphal East district, Thoubal district and Lilong police station arrested three persons who were in possession of suspected drugs from Lilong Haorou Hangamthabi, Thoubal District on Saturday.

The arrested persons have been identified as one Md Imtiyazur Rahaman alias Nanao, 24, son of Md Nur Rahaman from Lilong Haorou Hangamthabi, Thoubal district, Md Amir Khan, 24, son of late Md Lahimuddin from Lilong Yangbi Leikai, Boroi Makhong, Thoubal district and Abdur Wahid, 36, son of Md Nasir Ahamed from Keikhu Makha Leika, Porompat Police station, Imphal-East district.

A police report stated that the combined team led by officer-in-charge, Imphal East district commando unit, inspector Kh Henery under the command of additional superintendent of police (Ops) Kh Herojit Singh and under the supervision of superintendent of police, Imphal East district Ksh Shivakanta conducted a search operation at Lilong Haorou Hangamthabi, Thoubal District around 8 pm of Saturday.

During the police action, the three persons were detained in the same area. On further checking and interrogation 50,000 suspected WY tablets; two vehicles (Maruti Suzuki ECO Van and one (Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire); one backpack, red in colour and three mobile phones were detected from their possessions.

The three persons were arrested and the detected items were seized on the spot. Later, they were arrested and handed over to Lilong Police Station for further necessary legal action.
