Manipur Weather: Mercury rises but cold condition persists

The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted dry weather with shallow to moderate fog in the next four days in several places.

Manipur on Tuesday recorded sunny weather as Imphal valley basked under bright midday sunshine. The maximum temperature, however, dipped to 26.2 degree Celsius on Tuesday from a sudden high of 30.01 degree Celsius on Monday.

The minimum temperature of the day moved up to 6.4 degree Celsius mid-day Tuesday from Monday’s 5.54 degree Celsius, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati.

Despite the rise in mercury, cold wave conditions persisted in most parts of the state, the weatherman said.The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted dry weather with shallow to moderate fog in the next four days in several places.

The relative humidity (RH) on Tuesday morning was 95 per cent while it decreased to 39 per cent in the afternoon, the Regional Meteorological Centre said.

On Monday, in the hills, Senapati district recorded the lowest temperature of 5.54 degree Celsius on Monday. In the valley, Imphal West district recorded a minimum temperature of 6.64 degree Celsius.

On December 27, the minimum temperature in Manipur was recorded at 2.35 degrees Celsius, while the maximum was 28.52 degrees Celsius. Senapati district recorded the lowest temperature of 2.35 degree Celsius while the temperature in Imphal West fell to 3.06 degrees Celsius, according to the state Directorate of Environment and Climate Change.
