Manipur Violence: Woman shot by Kuki militants dies

Deceased L Ibemcha, 39, wife of L Tondon of Kangchup Chingkhong was undergoing treatment after she suffered a bullet injury during an intense firing upon farmers by Kuki militants.

Khwairakpam ningol Leichonbam ongbi Ibemcha who was shot by Kuki militants from Kangchup Hills on the morning of November 7 succumbed to her injuries around 1.35 pm at RIMS hospital on Friday.

Deceased L Ibemcha, 39, wife of L Tondon of Kangchup Chingkhong was undergoing treatment after she suffered a bullet injury during an intense firing upon farmers by Kuki militants.

She is survived by her husband, a 17-year-old daughter, an 11-year-old and a seven-year-old son. Body of the deceased has been kept at RIMS mortuary and the postmortem will be conducted on Saturday.

Ibemcha was among the nine individuals who were injured when suspected Kuki militants fired several rounds of bullets at around 11.25 am from Songlung village at security forces gathered at Kangchup Chingkhong.

Her words spoken in anguish ‘Am I going to die? captured in a video clip went viral in the social media afterwards.
