Manipur: Village volunteer dies of Scrub Typhus

A village volunteer of Kangpokpi Unit, Letminlen Haokip, 23, of Pangmol village in Kangpokpi district died on Wednesday at Senapati District Hospital after a prolonged illness caused by Scrub Typhus.

A village volunteer of Kangpokpi Unit, Letminlen Haokip, 23, son of Letthang Haokip of Pangmol village near Motbung in Kangpokpi district died on Wednesday at Senapati District Hospital after a prolonged illness caused by Scrub Typhus.

According to his family, the deceased developed a high fever a few weeks ago while on duty in the peripheral area and was admitted to a hospital. However, he succumbed to his illness on Wednesday evening.

The Defence Department of Committee on Tribal Unity Sadar Hills Kangpokpi had a condolence ceremony along the NH-2 on Wednesday evening at Kangpokpi when the body of the deceased was brought from Senapati to his home.

KSO-GHQ, KTC, KWWO, KYU, CoTU Relief Committee also paid their last tribute at the condolence ceremony while his colleagues also paid their tribute before he was taken to his home.

The last rite or the burial ceremony was conducted at his Pangmol residence on Thursday and he was buried at the village cemetery with the highest honour and respect.

Apart from the Committee on Tribal Unity Sadar Hills, various other Kuki-Zo civil society organisations also took part in paying their tribute at the funeral ceremony.
