The Police Control Room of Manipur Police on Tuesday stated that the situation in the State was tense but under control with sporadic incidents of firing and congregation of protestors during the last 24 hours.
Search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal-West, Thoubal and Kangpokpi districts, stated a release issued by the Police Control Room.
On Tuesday, Security Forces arrested one active member of KYKL from Imphal-West District and recovered one 9mm pistol and two magazines loaded with 16 live rounds, it stated.
It further stated that a Car, a sum of Rs 92,000 and 4 mobile phones were also seized from his possession. He was involved in extortion of huge amount of money from the general public, it mentioned.
Manipur Police arrested one person at Senapati district while carrying 35 soap cases containing 421.6 grams of brown sugar in one Tata Yodha. A case has been registered in this regard. Further investigation is underway.
The movement of 349 vehicles along NH-37 and 814 vehicles along NH-2 with essential items have been ensured, it further stated.
Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it mentioned.
A total of 133 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 794 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State, it stated.
It appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos.
Any circulation of unfounded videos etc may be confirmed from the rumour free number - 9233522822 of Central Control room, it started. Further, an appeal is made to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately, it added.
