Manipur Unrest: Meira Paibis burned effigies of PM Modi, Amit Shah, Biren

The Central security forces are taking bias action to control the situation in Manipur, the Meira Paibis said.

Local Meira Paibis of Heirangoithong Makha Keibung Oinam Leikai on Friday burned the effigies of five persons, including that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister N Biren Singh while decrying the Central forces action amid the ongoing unrest in the state.

The other effigies included that of Security Advisor to Manipur Government, Kuldiep Singh and overall operational commander, ADGP, Ashutosh Sinha.

Before the effigies were burned, one of the protesters identified as Sandhyarani said following the May 3 incident, people across the state are living in panic situation. Moreover, the Central security forces are biased in controlling the situation of Manipur, she alleged.

She appealed to the Central government to take necessary steps in order to bring normalcy in the state of Manipur.

The protesters held placards that read “migrants Chin Kuki Tanthokho”, “SoO Chatnahanganu”, “Save Democracy”, “Go Back Indian Army” among others.

Later, the protesters blocked the road and burned the five effigies.
