Manipur Unrest: Khurai stages sit-in in missing youths

Yaipha Lamjing Nupi Lup and Eastern Popular Club, Khurai jointly staged a sit in protest, demanding to end the present turmoil and find the whereabouts of Maibam Avinash and Ningthoujam Anthony who had been missing.

The protest was staged at the community hall of Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai, Imphal on Sunday.

Speaking to the media secretary of Yaipha Lamjing Nupi Lup, Ningthoujam Premila said the state and Central government should bring an end to the present crisis that has been continuing since May 3.

She further said the government should find out the whereabouts of the two missing teenagers Maibam Avinash and Ningthoujam Anthony immediately. To end the present turmoil, both the state and Central government should end narco-terrorism from Manipur while NRC should be implemented in Manipur, she said.

The two teenagers went missing on November 5 after they reportedly went to attend a function at Sekmai. Police have arrested two suspects but no traces of the missing teenagers have been found yet.

The CBI had arrested suspects involved in the abduction and killing of two students Hemanjit and Linthoingambi who had also gone missing but their bodies are yet to be traced.
