Manipur Unrest: Kanglatombi attacked, villagers flee

The Kanglatombi villagers returned back to their homes on Saturday morning but were unable to settle peacefully due to the ongoing conflict.

Suspected Kuki militants reportedly opened fire from three Kuki villages towards Kanglatombi, the border village of Imphal West and Kangpokpi district which is a Kuki dominated district around 8 pm on Friday.

Terrified Meitei residents of Kanglatombi Bazar Board fled to safer areas due to the attack on the village which is resided by only 40 households. The Kuki militants reportedly fired from Phongyang, Gamsiphai and Warphan villages but no casualties were reported. The BSF personnels stationed at Kanglatombi allegedly did not retaliate to the attack.

The villagers returned back to their homes on Saturday morning but were unable to settle peacefully due to the ongoing conflict. The meiteis of Kanglatombi Bazar Board appealed to the government to look into the matter and help them during their hard times.
