Manipur: Two sent to jail on impersonation case

Two persons accused of impersonating and cheating in the recently conducted entrance test for diploma on Pharmacy examination have been remanded in judicial custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West.

Two persons accused of impersonating and cheating in the recently conducted entrance test for diploma on Pharmacy examination have been remanded in judicial custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West on Wednesday.

The accused persons identified as Bm Maqbool, 19, son of Bm Manjur Ahmed of Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi and Md Mansur Alam, 20, son of Md Riyajuddin of Lilong Ubak thong were produced before the court after the completion of the Police Custody period along with a prays for judicial custody by a team of Lamphel Police Station.

Meanwhile, the defense counsel of the accused filed a remand objection along with prayers for releasing them on bail.

The Investigating Officer of the case through the Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the accused persons were arrested for impersonating and cheating using mobile phones during the entrance test for Diploma in Pharmacy for 30 seats conducted by the Technical Education at Government Polytechnic Takyel.

It was also submitted that during interrogation under police custody, the accused persons admitted that they impersonated the candidates of the entrance test and used mobile devices during the examination for the purpose of cheating.

The Additional Public Prosecutor further submitted that prima facie evidence is well established against the accused persons and prayed for judicial custody of accused persons.

The court on examination of the case record and after hearing the submission of the additional public prosecutor and defense counsel of the accused, remanded Bm Maqbool and Md Mansur Alam in judicial custody until July 24 for further investigation into the case.
