Manipur: Two doctors, nurse test positive for COVID-19

The state health department said that the frontliners were staying at the isolation ward of Bishnupur hospital after seven days duty at the same hospital.

Two doctors and a nurse at Manipur's Bishnupur district hospital have tested positive for COVID-19, the state health department said on Monday.

The state health department said that the three frontliners, who were part of the medical team at Bishnupur COVID-19 care facility, were staying at the isolation ward of the hospital after seven days duty at the same hospital.

Their samples were confirmed positive at the Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) at of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal, the state health department said.

All of them are in stable condition and are being shifted to the COVID-19 care facility at JNIMS for further treatment, the health department added.

In Manipue, the first case of frontline workers being exposed to coronavirus was reported on June 4 after a frontline nurse from Churachandpur district tested COVID-19 positive along with 16 others.  

Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur surged to 841 on Sunday as 64 more persons, 35 males and 29 females, tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Of the total confirmed cases, 591 are active cases while 250 patients have recovered from the infection till Sunday.
