The joint Administrative Council of All Manipur Trade Unions’ Council (AMTUC) and the All Manipur Government Employees’ Organisation (AMGEO) have demanded the state government to release their due salaries by July and threatened to launch an indefinite cease work strike.
A memorandum highlighting the grievances faced by the state government employees and pensioners on account of alleged irregularities and preferential disbursement of monthly salaries was submitted to Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday.
The memorandum was signed by president of JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO Ch Chandramani Singh. It demanded an immediate release of the backlog salaries of employees for May.
It stated that the salaries should be disbursed in time and on a regular basis at par with the employees of the state Secretariat Services and Home department effective from July.
The resolution to make the demand was unanimously taken during a joint meeting of executive councils and representatives of various departments at the JAC’s office located at Sanjenthong on Saturday.
“The JAC has also taken a very serious note on the attitude of the government towards the unjust and partial treatment meted out to its employees in regard to payment of monthly salaries and consider it as an attempt of dividing the employees’ community,” it stated.
