Manipur Chief Minister N Biren on Monday said that the state government will soon start collecting property tax to boost the revenue generation of the state.
The chief minister was replying to a query raised by the media on the government's effort to boost the state's revenue during an inspection of an amusement park and recreational centre at Thenggu Ching, Awang Potshangbam Khunou in Imphal East.
Talking on the present status of Manipur, CM Biren said that the revenue of the state has increased double since the implementation of the GST.
Regulations of selling IMFL is also one of the initiatives which the government is targeting to boost the revenue, he said, adding that the government is considering the matter in consultation with experts.
Talking on the scheduled G20 Summit in Manipur, he said it is believed that the state will receive a good amount of fundings on various sectors such as industries, employment generation, health, education, tourism among others.
He said that the construction of the amusement park was taken up considering the need to provide a space for recreational centres as the people of the state have faced enough trauma in the past decades due to imposition of AFSPA, insurgency issues and others.
Promising to handover the park, which is being constructed at an estimated amount of around Rs. 40 crore to the public by February, the park will help in lifting the socio-economic status of the locals who have sacrificed the land for the construction of the park, the CM said.
Concerning the safety of the visitors, the CM informed that the park will be run by experts from outside the state in its initial stage.
