Manipur: Three more government employees suspended for subletting quarters

The Manipur government on May 12 issued notices that illegal occupations of government quarters and punitive legal action will be taken up.

The Manipur government has suspended three employees for subletting the government quarters allotted to them.

The three suspended employees are a ward attendant serving at PHC Moreh, SD Erengnei Chiru; physical education teacher serving in Imphal, T Subol and a grade-IV employee, P Thanga Guite.

The ward attendant, Erengnei Chiru, was found subletting a dType-IVA quarter number 22 at Langol Housing Complex allotted to her on April 4, 2012 to Paokholen Haokip (unemployed) from Motbung, Senapati district, suspension order said.

Then, Subol was found subletting the government quarter allocated to him to Yerigkhom Sushil, stated on his suspension order, while Grade-IV employee Thanga Guite was found subletting the quarter allotted to him namely T-II/B-91 at Langol Housing Complex to one unauthorised person.

The orders issued on Thursday stated that the three employees were suspended with immediate effect in exercise of the powers conferred by CCS(CCA) Rules, 1965.

The order further stated that they shall remain in their respective headquarters and shall not leave the headquarters without obtaining permission of the competent authority.

Earlier, CM Biren stated that all illegal occupants of government allotted quarters in the state will be evicted. He also warned those government employees who rent their allotted quarters to others with suspension or even termination.

The state government on May 12 issued notices that illegal occupations of government quarters and punitive legal action will be taken up.

According to the notice, the government has constituted various verification teams at the state level as well as at the district level for verification and checking of government quarters. If, during the verification of checking, government employee or some other private parties are found either occupying government quarters unauthorisedly or subletting to someone else then strict disciplinary action sike suspension of concern government employee as deem fit under appropriate section of CCS(CCA) rules will be initiated or even FIR may lodge.

It may be mentioned that one IRB jawan has been suspended for subletting his government allotted quarter to another family who is a civilian.
