Manipur: Three die in separate incidents of drowning

According to sources, the incident in Imphal West reportedly occurred around 11 pm on Sunday, when two youths allegedly accidentally fell into a pond located at Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai.

Three individuals tragically lost their lives in separate incidents of drowning in Imphal West and Imphal East districts, Manipur on Monday.

According to sources, the incident in Imphal West reportedly occurred around 11 pm on Sunday, when two youths allegedly accidentally fell into a pond located at Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West district.

The two deceased victims have been identified as Thiyam Rohit, 19, son of Th Sarat from Sega road Thoudam Bhabok Leikai and Salam Dhanaraj, 21, son of S Devaraj from Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai.

Their lifeless bodies were recovered in the wee hours around 3.30 am on Monday. Following which, a team of Lamphel Police Station reportedly arrived and shifted the bodies to RIMS mortuary.

However, the family members of the two deceased requested for no post mortem, and the bodies had been taken by the families, sources said.

Meanwhile, an individual was reportedly found dead near Imphal River bank in Mahabali Kabui Khul area. He is presumed to have died from drowning.

The deceased has been identified as Guireilung Henry Dangmei, son of Tanchung Dangmei from Mahabali Kabui Khul.

Sources said that Porompat Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident. A post mortem examination was also conducted at JNIMS Mortuary, after which the body was handed over to the family members.
