Unknown assailants allegedly fired two rounds of bullets at the residence who sell fertilisers at Langmeidong market under Waikhong Police Station in Kakching district, Manipur on Thursday’s wee hour.
As per sources, the miscreants opened fire at the resident of Sagolsem Bikram alias Pakpa, 42, son of (L) Muhindro of Laimanai Makha Leikai.
Speaking to the media, Sagolsem Bikram called for clarification from the responsible group regarding the motive behind the attack.
In relation to the attack, localities staged a sit-in protest at Laimanai and Langmeidong market condemning the gun attack.
During the protest, they held placards which read ‘stop gun attack in residential areas’ and ‘stop unbearable monetary demands’ among others.
Speaking on the sideline of the protest, a protestor also condemned the gun attack in residential areas which created panic in the community.
Meanwhile, a team of Waikhong Police Station inquested the scene and registered a case for further investigation.
