Curfew has been relaxed from 5 am to 12 noon on Friday for three districts - Imphal West, Imphal East and Kakching.
Imphal West additional district magistrate N Johnson Meetei on Thursday notified that curfew has been lifted for the district from 5 am to 12 noon on Friday, citing "improvement" in the law and order situation in the district but it prohibits gathering of people for any other purposes other than procurement of essential items, including food and medicine.
The order also notified that all persons belonging to essential services such as health, electricity, PHED, press and electronic media and court will be exempted from the further imposition of curfew after the expiry of the said period of relaxation.
In Imphal East, curfew has been relaxed to facilitate the general public to purchase essential items, including medicines and food supplies.
Imphal East district magistrate Khumanthem Diana Devi notified that all persons belonging to essential services such as health, PHED, power (MSPDCL/MSPCL), Municipal officials/staff, media personnel and functioning of courts will be exempted from the further imposition of curfew after the expiry of the said period of relaxation.
In Kakching also, curfew has been relaxed from 5 am to 12 noon, however no public meetings or congregations will be allowed.
It may be mentioned that the Manipur government had issued an order for restriction of the movement of any person(s) outside their respective residences from 7 pm of May 3 until further order.
