A combined security force arrested six active cadres of the banned outfit KYKL on Monday around 3 am from Awang Potsangbam Khullen Maning Leikai.
According to police, a combined team of District Police Imphal West, Imphal East, two columns of 4th Assam Rifles and 2 QAT teams of CRPF, Langjing, led by SP Imphal West and SP Imphal East raided in a house located at Awang Potsangbam Khullen Maning Leikai under Sekmai Police Station.
During the search operation conducted in presence of one executive magistrate, the joint security forces arrested six active cadres of KYKL hiding inside the kitchen cum bedroom of the house belonging to one Khundongbam Raghuchandra, 52 years, son of (Late) Kh Ningthemjao Singh of Awang Potshangbam Khullen Maning Leikai.
The arrested cadres have been identified as Waribam Ibomcha alias Sudhir Meitei, 36, son of W Menjor of Tumukhong Awang Leikai, Moirangthem Boy, 41, son of (Late) M Nimai of Mayang Imphal Thana Leikai, Yumnam Amitkumar alias Tomthin Singh, 38, son of Y Ibohanbi Singh.
The remaining cadres are Oinam Naocha Meitei, 26, son of O Biren Singh of Tumukhong Mayai Leikai, Sandam Roshan Meitei, 24, son of S Ratan Singh of Sairem Khul and Tharoijam Nano Meitei, 24, son of (Late) Th Ibomcha Singh of Tharoijam Mayai Leikai.
During a preliminary interrogation, the arrested individuals admitted that they are the active cadres of KYKL working under one KYKL Commander Luckyson alias Birjit alias Ibomcha and took part while combating with the Kuki Militants under the command of Luckyson.
Further, the team seized three gun topping lenses (scope), three ammunition of AK + SLR and 3 note 3, one tube launching empty case, three Military type caps, one Maruti 800, white in colour, bearing registration number MN01S-7207 and other war like stores.
The arrested cadres along with the seized articles have been handed over to Sekmai Police Station. A case has been registered at Sekmai Police station for further investigation.
In the follow up action, police raided some locations and seized one single barrel gun, one double barrel (DBBL) gun, two live cartridges of barrel gun, three loaded magazines of AK-47 with 75 live rounds, five empty magazines of M-16 Assault rifle, 230 assorted live rounds, seven Wireless Walkie-Talkie sets with three charger, various military fatigues, one laptop and one hard disk and others miscellaneous items, as per a release issued by Police Control Room, Manipur Police.
In another incident on Monday, Manipur police arrested one cadre of proscribed outfit UNLF (Koireng) from Heingang Makha Leikai, Imphal East, it said.
The arrested cadre is identified as Konsam Romesh Meitei ,43. He was involved in extortion activities from various brickfields in Imphal East. From his possession, two mobile phones, one wallet and one two- wheeler vehicle, it stated.
Manipur Police also arrested four cadres of KCP PWG, namely Khundrakpam Rojit Singh, 28, Thokchom Sornu Singh, 23, Khoirakpam Abhinash Singh, 21, and Khundrakpam (0) Victoria Devi, 26, from Nambol area, Bishnupur districts, it mentioned.
They were involved in extortion activities in and around Nambol areas. From their possession, one pistol with having one live round, four mobile phones, one vehicle, cash of Rs 900, were seized, it said.
