Manipur: Singjamei PS files first FIR in theft case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita

The first FIR was lodged by Rajeev Okram of Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai, Imphal West district, at 11 am on Monday.

As the three new criminal laws replaced the colonial-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), criminal procedure of code (CrPC) and Indian Evidence Act, the first FIR under section 305 Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 for stolen of two wheeler (Honda Activa 3G) was lodged at Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district.

The first FIR was lodged by Rajeev Okram of Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai, Imphal West district, at 11 am on Monday.

The FIR was lodged against unknown person under section 305 of BNS.

The complainant stated that two-wheeler Honda Activa 3G was stolen from his garage located at Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai. 

Earlier, section 379 IPC covered theft case.

It should be mentioned that according to the Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Monday, as many as six cases have been registered in the state of Manipur following the commencement of new criminal laws i.e., the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
