A shootout took place between the security forces and suspected NSCN (I-M) cadres near Khoupum Police Station in Tamenglong district on Wednesday, sources said.

Personnel of 29 Assam Rifles and suspected NSCN-IM cadres were engaged in a gunfight at about 5.30 am Wednesday, local sources saud.
The gun-battle took placed near Chingmei Kabui (Pungsanmei village) about 12 km towards South from Khoupum police station.

The sources said that the gunfight took place while the AR personnel was conducting an operation at the area. No casualty has been reported yet.
