Manipur: Senapati records coldest December at 1.38 degree Celsius; Tamenglong witnesses snowfall

Manipur Weather: In the valley, Imphal West recorded the least temperature of 2.72 degrees Celsius, while maximum was 22.14 degree Celsius.

Manipur felt the December chill as the temperature plunged further with the mercury falling below two degrees Celsius on Tuesday - the season's lowest so far.

According to the climate change cell of the state Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, the minimum temperature in Manipur dipped to 1.38 degrees Celsius, while the maximum was 28.18 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Senapati on Tuesday recorded the season's lowest temperature so far at 1.38 degrees Celsius while its maximum temperature was 22.13.

In the valley, Imphal West recorded the least temperature of 2.72 degrees Celsius, while the maximum was 22.14 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, Tamenglong shivered as the district received light snowfall at several places, including parts of Gadailong, Duigailong and Utopia, on Tuesday morning. The district, however, recorded a higher minimum temperature of 7.92 degree Celsius while the maximum was 23.66 degree Celsius on Tuesday.

Bishnupur district recorded a minimum temperature of 5.14 degrees Celsius while the maximum was  21.85 degrees Celsius.

In Churachandpur district, the minimum temperature was 5.73 degrees Celsius while the maximum was 26.18 degrees Celsius.

In Imphal East, the minimum temperature was 5.56 degrees Celsius while the maximum was 26.11 degrees Celsius  

Kakching district recorded a minimum temperature of 6.86 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 22.08 degrees Celsius.

Kangpokpi district recorded a minimum temperature of 2.97 degrees Celsius and maximum temperature of 22.31 degrees Celsius.

In Noney district, the minimum temperature was 6.19 degrees Celsius, while the maximum was 28.18 degrees Celsius.

Tengnoupal district recorded a minimum temperature of 9.73 degrees Celsius and a maximum of  26.61 degrees Celsius.

The Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, has forecast dry weather with shallow to moderate fog at isolated pockets for the next five days in Manipur.

Cold wave condition was also reported in the national capital Delhi as cold winds hit the city and the mercury dipped to 3.6 degree Celsius on Tuesday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
