Manipur: Security forces rescue civilian from Kuki area

Leichombam Langam, 61, son of late Leichombam Bira Singh of Leimaram was successfully evacuated from Tingkai Khullen on November 16.

In response to the input received about a Meitei individual in Kuki dominated area, Indian Army liaised with relevant stakeholders to convince local Kuki Chiefs and evacuate the individual, according to a press handout from IGAR (South).

Leichombam Langam, 61, son of late Leichombam Bira Singh of Leimaram was successfully evacuated from Tingkai Khullen on November 16.

The evacuation was conducted swiftly in coordination with OC, Nambol PS. The endeavour remains to work in synergy with Police and neighbouring central security forces to establish a strong safety grid with no further loss of life and property amidst the ongoing ethnic conflict.

Meanwhile, security Forces under the aegis of IGAR (South) conducted a security meet in respect of providing security to both communities during harvesting season.

This meeting was attended by officers of Indian Army, Assam Rifles and central armed paramilitary forces along with Village Chiefs of villages namely S Kotlian, Loklaphai, Wangophai and general area West of Khuga River of Churachandpur District (Manipur) on 15 November 2023.

All central paramilitary forces were briefed about their role and area of responsibility during harvesting.

Security meet culminated with joint area domination patrol by Security Forces to earmark the responsibilities and ensured safety of farmers of both communities carrying out harvesting in the Security Zone.
