Manipur: Security forces recover arms, ammunition

Security forces recovered one .303 Rifle with Magazine, two 12-bore Single Barrel Rifle, two HE-36 Hand Grenades, among others.

Security forces seized several arms and ammunition during search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts on Friday.

As per a statement from the Manipur Police Control Room, security forces recovered one .303 Rifle with Magazine, two 12-bore Single Barrel Rifle, two HE-36 Hand Grenades, one 9mm pistol with Magazine, seven Live Round ammunitions, two Blank Round ammunition and one Motorola Set with antenna from Kangpokpi district.

The statement further mentioned that the situation in the state was under control. It stated that movement of 277 and 188 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-02 respectively with essential items have been ensured and strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.

It added that a total of 122 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 74 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.

It further appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. It also advised them to confirm any circulation of unfounded videos by dialling rumour-free number - 9233522822 of the Central Control room and to return looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.

Combine team seizes weapons

A combined security force seized weapons and other war-like stores from the General Area between Kotlen zero point and Kotzim Village, 4km North East of Kotlen Village on Friday.
According to police, a combined team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a joint operation in between Kotlen zero point and Kotzim Village.

During the operation, the team seized one .303 Rifle with magazine, two 12 inch Single Barrel Rifles, one 9mm pistol with magazine, two numbers of 36 Hand Grenades, seven 7.62mm Live Rounds ammunition, two 7.62mm Blank Rounds and one Motorola Set.

The seized arms and ammunition have been handed over to the concerned police station for further investigation.
