A combined security force seized a substantial cache of arms and ammunition from Bishnupur district, Manipur on Sunday.
According to police, a combined team of CDO Bishnupur led by deputy SP D Robinson along with two columns of 5 Sikh Regiment led by major Kh Bhati and Major Bikash with a team of D-08 CRPF Battalion, A-32 CRPF Battalion including a team of Moirang Police Station under the overall supervision of SP Ksh Ravikumar conducted a search operation in and around Gelmol Village areas, following a reliable source about the movement of some armed miscreants.
During the search operation, the team seized one AK rifle along with one empty magazine, one CMG carbine,one sniper rifle, one revolver, two tube launching 2 H.E.No. 36 grenade, one INSAS LMG empty magazine,two detonator , eight 9mm live round ammunitions, four live round ammunitions of 303, seven life round ammunitions of AK, three 303 high density cartridges, nine tear smoke shell, one BP helmet, two BP jacket with two plate , one Walkie Talkie set and one empty tear smoke munition box.
The seized items were handed over to Moirang Police Station station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, a combined team of CDO Kakching, Wangoi Police Station, a platoon of 131 battalion C-Coy,a platoon of 126 battalion A-Coy conducted a cordon and search operation at Wangoo Yellangba Hill range in Kakching district on Sunday.
According to police, the search operation was carried out under the command of and overall supervision of SP Kakching,Thokchom Vikramjit from 6.55 am-9.10am.
During the operation, the team seized one double barrel, one single barrel, three .36 HE grenades, one detonator, two helmets, four smoke grenades, one IED, 15.303 empty cache and 15 AK empty cases.
A case has been registered at Wangoo Police Station for further investigation.
