Manipur: Search on for arms snatched from MLA Joykishan’s farmhouse

According to police, the armed miscreants snatched away three SLR, four Magazines and 80 rounds of SLR from the VDF personnel guarding the farmhouse of the the MLA at gun point.

Police and security forces launched a massive search operation in Sekmai area, after armed miscreants decamped with 3 SLR alongwith ammunition from VDF personnel posted at the farmhouse of Thangmeiband MLA Khumukcham Joykishan on Tuesday.

At least six unknown mask armed miscreants barged inside the campus of a farm house belonging to Thangmeiband MLA Khumukcham Joykishan, located at Awang Leikinthabi on Tuesday around 7.25 pm.

According to police, the armed miscreants snatched away three SLR, four Magazines and 80 rounds of SLR from the VDF personnel guarding the farmhouse of the the MLA at gun point.

The armed miscreants also snatched away three mobile handsets of the police personnel and fled away to unknown direction.

A suo-motto case has been registered at Sekmai Police Station for further investigation.

Meanwhile, a combined security force arrested sixteen individuals for verification during a cordon and search operation in the areas of Sekmai Laipat, Sekmai Parao, Awang Leikinthabi, Awang Wabagai, and Awang Potshangbam under Sekmai Police Station in Imphal West on Wednesday from 9.45 am to 1.20 pm.

According to the police, the operation was carried out by a combined team from Sekmai Police Station, including Women Police Constables, along with eight teams of CDO Imphal West, 2 ½ platoons of E-69 CRPF, one column of B-4 BSF, One Column of E-172 BSF, one platoons of F-172 CRFP, one platoons of F-34 CRPF, one Coy of 104 RAF, one platoons of F-34 CRFP, one platoons of E-152 CRPF, D-104 RAF, two platoons of A-135(M) CRPF, one Coy of 189-CRPF under the overall supervision of SP Imphal West. During the operation, 1,430 individuals across five villages were verified, leading to the arrest of 16 individuals for further investigation.

No recoveries were made, and no untoward incidents were reported during the operation.
