Manipur: Relief materials handed over to Jiribam IDPs

Hundreds of IDPs displaced from Borobekra sub-division, including Lamtai Khunou, Madhupur, Harinagar, Buthngkhal, Narayanpur, and Goakhal, are taking shelter at Borobekra relief camp.

Khwairamband Keithel Sinpham Amadi Saktam Kanba Lup handed over relief materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Jiribam district on Sunday.

Hundreds of IDPs displaced from Borobekra sub-division, including Lamtai Khunou, Madhupur, Harinagar, Buthngkhal, Narayanpur, and Goakhal, are taking shelter at Borobekra relief camp.

Since June 6, after a man was found killed by unknown miscreants, violence in Jiribam, bordering Assam and Tamenglong district of Manipur, has escalated.

A 43-year-old Central Reserve Police Force member, Ajay Kumar Jha, was also killed during an ambush by armed miscreants suspected to be Kuki militants on July 14.

Additionally, during the ambush, two Manipur police commandos and another CRPF jawan sustained bullet injuries.

The women vendors of Khwairamband market handed over the relief materials, including clothing, eatables, and other items, through the district council of the Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Jiribam.
