A mass peaceful rally organised by the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Right (KWOHR) was held with the participation of thousands, starting from Leisang Village and culminating with a programme at the Wall of Remembrances, Tuibong on Friday.
The event was participated by people from all walks of life who held banners, placards and raised slogans, demanding justice for the Kuki-Zo people.
The rallyists were holding a banner that read, ‘mass protest rally against violation of Human Right to the Kuki-Zo people’ while also holding placards and shouting slogans such as ‘We demand withdrawal of Manipur police commandos from Moreh’ etc.
The KWOHR also submitted a memorandum for the PM Narandra Modi to the DC of Churachandpur District with the jubject, ‘Humble appeal for immediate withdrawal of Meetei police commandos from Moreh and appropriate action against the gross violation of Human Right of the Kuki-Zo Community.’
Meanwhile, the Joint Students Body, Lamka locked all government office in Churachandpur district even after an FIR no 2823(10)2023CCP-PS u/s 186/341/189/506 IPC was filed against them by the State Government which termed their declaration of every Friday as holiday as ‘illegal’.
