Manipur: Public discussion resolves to reduce travel fare for students to 50 per cent

A one-day public discussion on ‘Transport Fare Hike and Grievances of Transporters’ also resolved to pressure the Transport department for providing the incentive scheme benefits to private school transporters who have been recognised as bonafide transporters.

A one-day public discussion on ‘Transport Fare Hike and Grievances of Transporters’ that was held on Monday at the office of All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) resolved to reduce the travel fare for school and college students to 50 per cent as concession.

The discussion resolved to pressure the Transport department for issuing the latest gazette notification regarding revised the rate of passenger fare, freight and hiring charges of motor vehicles. It also resolved to pressure the Transport department for providing the incentive scheme benefits to private school transporters who have been recognised as bonafide transporters.

Further, it was resolved to pressure the state government for amendment of transport policy and decrease of fuel price permanently.

The open discussion was attended by transport association, transport union, transport society representatives and AMSU volunteers.
