Condemning the brutal killing of Laishram Johnson, 35 years and the harassment of his friend, Elam Roshan, a sit-in protest was held on Tuesday at Sangakpham Bazar in Imphal.

The protestors voiced their demands for justice and accountability following the violent incident that transpired Monday night.

Johnson, son of L Dhananjoy from Laipham Khunou, was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival at Khurkhul Primary Health Centre.

Eyewitness reports indicate that he bore visible injuries when he was brought to the hospital by unidentified individuals, who subsequently fled the scene, raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Roshan, who was abducted alongside Johnson, was released by the miscreants after enduring severe assaults. He is currently receiving treatment in the ICU at Shija Hospital.

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against the Brutal Killing of L Johnson and Torture of Elam Roshan organised the protest to demand urgent action from the government.

Speaking to the media, the convenor of the JAC, M Bimol, strongly condemned the heinous acts perpetrated against both Johnson and Roshan.

"We cannot stand idly by while our community members are subjected to such violence," Bimol declared, adding, "Justice must be served, and those responsible for these brutal acts must be held accountable."

In a decisive move, the JAC had also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren outlining their demands for the immediate arrest and punishment of the perpetrators involved in the abduction and murder.
