Manipur Polls: Two candidates withdraw nominations, one rejected for first phase

The two candidates who withdrew their nominations are Thangminlen Kipgen who had filed his nomination as an independent candidate in Kangpokpi assembly constituency and Pukhrambam Somojit Singh of Langthabal assembly constituency who also filed his nomination as an independent candidate.

Two candidates have withdrawn their nominations so far on Friday while one candidate failed to clear the scrutiny among the total of 176 candidates who had filed their nomination for the first phase of the Manipur Assembly elections, 2022. With this, the number of candidates of the first phase election reduced to 173.

The two candidates who withdrew their nominations are Thangminlen Kipgen who had filed his nomination as an independent candidate in Kangpokpi assembly constituency and Pukhrambam Somojit Singh of Langthabal assembly constituency who also filed his nomination as an independent candidate.

With the withdrawal of Thangminlen's nomination, only three candidates are left in the fray to contest the election for MLA’s seat in Kangpokpi assembly constituency.

Langthabal assembly constituency is also left with only four candidates contesting the election with Somorjit's withdrawal. The single candidate who failed the scrutiny is Lunkhosei, an Independent candidate of Saikot assembly constituency.
