The Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Wednesday stated that search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, during which arms and ammunition were seized.
During the search operations, two SBBL Guns, one Carbine with one Magazine, 12 No. 36 hand grenades, seven detonators, six tube launching, 10 live ammunition, two 80 smoke hand grenades and one wireless motorala set with one charger were seized from the general area of Yangoi, Imphal West, stated a release.
It stated that on Wednesday, Manipur Police arrested one active member of KCP (Noyon) from Imphal East. He is identified as Kharibam Surchandra Singh alias Telheiba, 53. He was involved in extortion activities from various Government offices and schools, it stated.
From his possession, a sum of Rs 1,15, 000, one two-wheeler scooter, two mobile phones, one sling bag, and one wallet, it mentioned.
In another incident on Tuesday, security forces arrested three active members of proscribed outfit KCP (Noyon) from Kakching district. They have been identified as Laikhuram Sanatomba Singh alias Mani, 24, Heikrujam Dinesh Singh, 21, and Tongbram Nganthoiba Singh, 21. They were involved in extortion activities from the general public, it stated.
Further from their possession, three mobile phones, one four-wheeler vehicle and two demand letters were recovered, it added.
It mentioned that the movement of 163 and 297 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items has been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it stated.
It further stated that a total of 127 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 82 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State,
Appeal is made to general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Further, appeal is made to public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately. During the last 24 hours, the situation in the State was under control, it added.
