Manipur: POCSO accused files default bail

The accused was arrested on June 12, 2021 in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl.

POCSO accused on Tuesday filed an application for releasing him on default bail before the Special Judge (POCSO), Imphal West. The court called the status report from the IO of the case and has fixed December 30 for hearing of the bail plea.

The accused, Rupesh Singh, 25, son of (L) Chandra Mohan Singh of South West Delhi, presently residing at Nagamapal Kangjabi was arrested on June 12, 2021. He has been in judicial custody since June 19, 2021, after completing nine days of police custody.

Rupesh was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl. The IO of the case had examined prosecution witnesses and interrogated the accused. The accused, during the IO interrogation, admitted the offence charged against him.

However, due to the late submission of the chargesheet from the IO side, the accused applied default bail.
